THE COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION OF ' THE PUBLIC SERVICE VESSEL 'LE MALIN '

18/08/2011

PIRIOU NAVAL SERVICES delivered the public service patrol boat "LE MALIN" to the DGA (French Defence Procurement Agency) on 18 August, nearly 2 weeks earlier than the contractual delivery date. After its arrival in Concarneau in mid-December 2010, this former longliner with a displacement of 1,000 tonnes and a length of 50 metres has undergone a complete transformation to adapt it to its new missions.

After removal of the fishing installations, the main work carried out on this vessel was the work to bring it into complete conformity with the regulations, with the installation of a lifeboat and its davits, and the adaptation to military missions with the creation of an armoury, ammunition stores and the installation of two 12.7 machine guns on the main deck.

"LE MALIN" will be based in Reunion and its main missions will be fisheries control, antipollution duties, maritime security and gathering maritime intelligence.
